Looking for something to do over the festive period? We have made our ‘Walk Into History’ resource free to download.
‘Walk Into History’ is a short, handy guide on local industrial heritage. Yorkshire was once the centre of the world’s industry. That past is still visible in lots of ways today. Our resource suggests a few ways you can spot it in the most unexpected places. Even the most ordinary-seeming features can reveal a piece of history.
The activity was originally part of the FEAST: a new holiday food and activity programme delivered throughout North Yorkshire during school holidays. The programme, coordinated by North Yorkshire Youth, North Yorkshire Sport and Rural Arts, was designed to help young people who receive free school meals during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The good news is ‘Walk Into History’ can be used anywhere by anyone. You can find clues about industrial heritage everywhere, from your own street to local landmarks. So give it a go and see what you find!
