Crew Tips – Tips on working with and welcoming teenagers by teenagers from Cactus Crew
In August 2022 Bradford-based youth collective, Cactus Crew, devised and led training for heritage professionals on how to work with and welcome teenagers. The training drew on the Crew’s experiences from collaborating with Ignite Yorkshire facilitated by Nicola Murray at Spongetree – some of them for over four years, and from their other experiences as teenagers in heritage and cultural spaces. Professionals from museums and other organisations across Yorkshire came to North Yorkshire Youth’s new heritage skills centre at Carlton Lodge in Thirsk for the day of training. Feedback from participants was universally positive.
