Banners and Brass took place at the National Coal Mining Museum on Sunday 5th May 2019. The event was a brass band youth exchange and visual arts workshop, led by Edgelands Arts. Young musicians learned about the heritage of brass bands in coal mining communities. They worked with professional brass players to compose and perform an original piece of music based on the Lofthouse Colliery Disaster. There was also a workshop on designing and making traditional mining banners.
