Pony Club NCMME

Last summer, the National Coal Mining Museum opened their new Pony Discovery Centre. To celebrate, Ignite Yorkshire invited young people from Wakefield Down’s Syndrome group to meet the ponies and explore their important role in mining heritage.

The group used objects and images to learn about the life of pit ponies and got to create their own sound effects. The group had the opportunity to meet experienced horse keepers, as well as other young people as part of Pony Club. Of course, the highlight of the day was getting to pet the Centre’s three ponies and Clydesdale horse!

We are very pleased to say that one of the young participants has since done work experience at the Museum!
